Diploma of Agriculture (Organic Production)
This course is for people who work or want to work in the organic production/agricultural/horticulture industry with some expertise who want to develop advanced technical and management skills. It also provides the underpinning knowledge required to apply these skills in the workplace.
You will learn how to manage the procedures that employees in the organic production industry must carry out as well as learning technical skills that a manager in an organic production enterprise should have. You will also be able to implement and monitor occupational health, safe working practices and quality assurance practices to industry standards.
This course is also suitable for owners of organic production/agriculture/horticultural operations who want to enhance their technical and management knowledge and skills.
This course has been developed to meet the increasing demand for organic produce, address issues of sustainable agricultural production, and to ensure conformity to national standards for organic and biodynamic production.
Diploma of Agriculture
This course is for people wanting to work on farms and stations as managers, or as sole operators of an agribusiness providing crop production advice and services to production enterprises.
You will learn about cropping, agribusiness and business functions, as well as selected skills areas which could include chemicals use, livestock production, machinery operations and maintenance, organic production, water and drainage, workplace safety.
Certificate 4 in Agriculture
This course is for people wanting to develop skills and knowledge to become specialists within the agriculture industry. It is designed to meet the needs of supervisors or team leaders in the agriculture industry.
You will learn about maintaining safe work practices, as well as selected skills areas which could include agribusiness, chemicals use, cropping, dairy, horse breeding, irrigation, livestock production, machinery operation and maintenance, merchandising and sales, organic production, pest management, soils, and wool.
Certificate 3 in Agriculture
This course is for people who want to develop their technical skills and knowledge for positions with livestock, cropping or mixed farming enterprises.
You will learn about safe work practices and environmentally sustainable work practices, as well as selected skills areas which could include broadacre cropping, chemicals use, livestock production, machinery operation and maintenance, horse breeding, irrigation, agribusiness, horticulture, pest management, and wool.
Certificate 2 in Agriculture
This course is for people with little or no experience who want to work in livestock, cropping or mixed farming enterprises as farm assistants or station hands.
You will learn about safe work practices and environmental practices, as well as basic technical skills relevant to the selected industry area.
This could include:
- broad acre cropping
- dairy
- livestock production
- irrigation
- horse breeding
- machinery operation and maintenance
- pork production, sheep and wool
- pest control
Diploma of Permaculture
This course will provide training in permaculture for those who are working as project managers on permaculture community development projects, and those seeking to become permaculture systems designers and/or consultants.
Certificate 4 in Permaculture
This course will provide skills training in permaculture for those who will be supervising permaculture works on rural and urban properties,who are working as project officers on community permaculture projects, and those seeking to become permaculture designers and/or advisors.
